a quilt for a boy

inspired by this pattern.
fabrics used: moda's sweetwater pure line, random browns and blues, old plaid shirts from my husband
finished size 40 x 46
loved making it!  (although the instructions were more complicated than they needed to be)
gifted to a sister for her fourth boy
her nursery is brown and blue with stars (similar to my boy's) so i included a few stars in the quilting
i think my boy needs a twin sized version so you might see this again...

  6. Love your higher contrast in fabrics.

There is a link to a Moda Bake Shop tutorial in the upper part of this post (where it says, Inspired by this pattern).
But I made this quilt in a different way via 4 Patch in a Square method. Sewed the rows together, set them on point and trimmed the whole quilt sides. Easy beasy.

  7. I love love love this quilt. I have always wanted to learn how to quilt and this quilt has inspired me to take my first quilting class. I like this quilt so much more than the one it was inspired by. Great Job! You are amazing.

  8. Beautiful! First grandbaby boy to arrive in early December. :) I gave my daughter-in-law a couple quilt ideas to choose from and she chose this one. Looking forward to making it! Can you give me what your square dimensions were as they are obviously different than the pattern you based this lovely quilt on. Thank you!

  9. I love this quilt and would like to make one using a 5” charm square for the large square. How do I figure out what size to cut the smaller piece? In the original pattern it’s 3.5”. Any help would be appreciated!
